In the 19th century, the situation worsened: the castle was used as a quarry by the locals, which led to further damage and irretrievably destroyed a large part of the historic building. Finally, in 1934, the southern part of the castle collapsed, further accelerating its decline. Today, feverish work is underway to reconstruct the castle in order to preserve its impressive heritage and make it accessible to future generations.
